In the untameable mirror that is the sea, I find myself confronted with all my forgotten dreams and resolutions. At the start of every beach holiday, I converse with the water, making excuses for the adventures I didn’t go on, as well as promises of change. Only after this, which I now recognise to be a ritual of sorts, can I proceed to enjoy my vacation.
Now, living on the beach, I am faced regularly with ideas for my bucket list, and a sea that doesn’t understand hesitation. So, I’ve decided that these are three things I would like to try here in Diani this year.

Kitesurfing. I love the idea of this one the most. Seeing people glide on the surface of the water like that makes me want to go straight to kite surfing school.
The enthusiasm of excited visitors taking these on is infectious, and I’m sure I’ll do at least one of these sometime soon. The Kenyaways kite surfing centre is a 10 minute walk from home – perhaps that’ll be the first.
